Hello from Toronto! So far so good on the road here; shows are going swimmingly, the air is hot, and Lake Ontario is freezing. Tomorrow we head to Montreal for a couple of shows, the second of which is with our good friends from the 'couv, Lotus Child. If you are in that neck of the woods, check out our tour dates for times and locations. Also, make sure you are checking our visual tour diary, which is being updated every couple days with photos by our boy Jon Taggart. Adios!

After years of research, speculation, and deliberation, there has finally been some light shed on the age-old question that had plagued us all for years: Where did the band name "Said The Whale" come from? Click here, and the answer will be revealed!

Thank you so much to everyone who came to ur CD release show at the Media Club last night! Official numbers are in, and it looks like the place was maxed out at capacity! Thanks also to The Reasonable Men and Prairie Cat, who both played amazing sets.

With that being said, our brand new CD is now available for sale! You can order it from CDbaby.com by clicking here!

We also got a great review from Streethawk Magazine. Read it, and visit their site frequently if you want to keep yourself up to date with Vancouver's independent music scene.

Many thanks to those of you who sacrificed Game 5's OT loss to see us at the Lamplighter. Special kudos goes out to Ian who not only had to endure a 7 hour weekend ferry ride to get to Vancouver, but actually had to email the Dean at his University to make sure he wouldn't be dropped from his courses for skipping them to see us! Wowee! See you all on may 15th at the Media Club!

We're starting get mixes back from Vertical Studios, and they sound AWESOME. Check out our MySpace page to hear 2 of the mixes!

March 7th, 2007

For the past 5 days we have been recording music at Vertical Studios, which is owned, operated, and was built by Tom Dobrzanski from the Vancouver band Lotus Child. All I can say at this point is that it's going fucking FANTASTIC, the songs are sounding better than we ever could have hoped! Expect an 8-song "official album" to be released in mid-May, with a few teaser tracks appearing on Myspace by the end of this month.

Speaking of CDs, the "Lets Have Sound EP" has arrived! This will be a free EP containing 10 songs recorded in our basements. Contact one of us to get a copy!

Stay tuned for more updates from the studio soon...

Feb 27th, 2007

Imogen Heap's Hide and Seek is one of the best songs ever written. This is a completely unthought out post, but thats OK right? I listen to lots of music that makes me shiver, but this time I happen to be at my computer, shivering from Hide and Seek so I have chosen to write about it. I think I would like to post some sort of top ten most amazing songs list, compiled by Ben and myself. Anyways, this web update is going nowhere, other than the fact that this is such a beautiful song and if you haven't heard it, you should take a listen and decide for yourself. (It has just been scrobbled about 4 times in a row by me on last.fm. I'm a huge nerd.) OK. Studio on thursday, free EPs on friday, talk soon!

Feb 20th, 2007

We head into Vertical Studios next thursday to record 6 songs for our upcoming CD. In the meantime, we are pressing a 10 song EP of some home recordings that we have made in the past few months. This will be available to all at no cost. That's right, FREE! It's going to the manufacturer tomorrow, so it should be ready in a week or two. We'll let you know when it's good to go. Stay tuned!

Check out our song "Better For You" on the "Swimming Upstream" Podcast! You can download it directly from iTunes here. Cool!

An incredibly theatrical bio has been posted! In fact, it's almost more of a proverb than it is a bio, but nonetheless, incredible. Kudos to HVDV for that one. Make sure you make it to the Media Club on Feb 3rd to see us play with the Day Release Program! We're on at about 830 or 9, so be on time! Also, new music coming soon.

January 25th, 2007

Although perhaps unrelated to anything on this site at all, I thought it fitting to report that a Grey Whale was sighted this tuesday in the Fraser River. For those of you who are not Vancouverites, Fraser River is the muddy river that separates Vancouver from the suburb of Richmond. It is not a large river by any standards. Grey Whales are fucking huge.
News that is actually relevant to our music coming soon.

Welcome to our brand new website, designed by aesthetic genius Andy Dixon at The Chemistry Designs. Over the next few weeks, we will be adding more and more content, but in the meantime, feel free to come see us play at the Media Club on Feb. 3rd with The Day Release Program. Stay tuned!
